FREQUENT QUESTIONS

The general population’s perspective of hypnosis comes from stage hypnosis or the media.   It is time to change that.

Can I be hypnotized?

The definition of being hypnotized is basically that you are in your subconscious mind.  The subconscious mind is made up of your imagination, memories, and emotions.  If you can access any of the above throughout the day, technically you have been walking around hypnotized.  My job is to de-hypnotize you, using hypnosis, because you have been stuck in your imagination, memories and emotions.

How does it work?

Emotions are the fuel for behavior.  You will never have a behavior without an emotion first.  Hypnotherapy enables you to find the emotions behind the behavior and use your own memories and imagination to change your own perspective, thereby changing behavior.

What if I like to be the one in control of my mind and don’t want to be hypnotized?

No person on earth can mentally take control of anyone else.  This idea that hypnosis makes people do things contrary to their belief is false.  You always have a choice; you are always aware of what you are thinking and doing in hypnosis (you aren’t asleep).  Hypnosis allows you to access your mind in deeper ways.  If you don’t want to go somewhere in your mind, then you don’t have to.  It’s your choice of how and when you want to heal.  I can make a suggestion; you get to decide if it’s true for you.

Helen is very easy to talk to and kind, the hypnotherapy type of therapy is like an ah-ha moment. It has given me an understanding of how to work through difficult situations by letting go of thinking that isn’t accurate or helpful. Life-changing.

More tidbits

I do not use a script; that is suggestive hypnotherapy.  I am a clinical hypnotherapist, meaning everything I say or ask is based on your needs in the moment.  You will be talking and working through things as I ask you questions and make suggestions.  Ultimately, you are the one doing the work to change.

If you want to change, then you can and will if you apply what you learn.
